Even more ideas...

Yesterday, I talked about how I had gone hiking and took a photo that would make a great book cover. I already had a story in mind for it. See, I have a story that is based on real life, and one of the scenes that needs to be fleshed out takes place on that actual trail. Therefore, it was logical to me to make that be the cover.

I did show it to one of my friends as being the photo I wanted to use. Her comment about the picture being more like a trail than me second favorite one actually put different ideas into my head. So, now instead of that story, I have an idea for a different type of book that goes in a completely different direction.

I can't stop the overflow of ideas! The problem is, I also just can't seem to finish one of them. If I don't go with the flow with the most current idea, I will lose it. It makes me crazy, but it is the way that my brain works. I also have this problem in which I have a hard time working on anything that takes a long time. I remember taking a painting class with my dad. I was amazed at the beauty of his oil paintings, but found myself getting frustrated that I would have to wait a week or two before I could add on another layer.

Yet, it is still Winter Break, and I am determined to get something done this week. I keep toying with possibly going out again to walk, if it isn't too muddy after all of the rain we had overnight. We shall see what happens...

  1. It's so hard to focus on one thing sometimes, especially when the ideas keep coming and sending you off in different directions. I guess that's part of the fun of it, but I find it hard to complete long term projects too - having one completion goal each week can help though. Have a great week! :-)

    1. I never know which idea is going to seize me! I was working on one idea, took a hike, and then came up with two others! And then I hit the wall on those and was inspired to start something else. I just keep telling myself that at least I am trying again!

  2. It is hard to finish things. I have been making it a goal to finish all my backlog. I find it helps to use a basic composition book to write my books in for first draft. It is all together, portable, and you can start off where you left off. Just put pen to paper and let the muse take over! I am visiting you from the A-Z blogroll. Just wanted to say HI and nice to meet you!

  3. I have never been able to decide which is worse when it comes to creativity. Having no ideas or too many to work with.

  4. It's great that you have so many ideas. I can certainly understand the difficulty of focusing on one project when the ideas are flowing!
